Training Facilities

IR SUITE

The Academy has 20 PACS workstations for use by trainees, many in the PACS workstation room. Supervised reporting by trainees takes place here from an early stage in training. This room houses 10 PCs and projection facilities are also available.

There are computers in many rooms throughout the Academy so access is always guaranteed. The IT Suite houses 14 PCs for use by trainees to access e-learning, email and the internet for self directed learning. Photocopy and scanning services are also available.

The Mac Suite is equipped with 7 state of the art Apple Mac Workstations and 6 PC’s. This room is regularly used as an alternative teaching room by Consultants or by the Trainees as a quiet area to work or to sit Casualty exams.

With seating for up to 30 trainees the seminar room has video conferencing facilities as well as state of the art audiovisual equipment including PC, DVD player, video player and projection kit. The air-conditioned seminar room provides an exceptional environment for seminars, presentations, training and group work. This room also houses a networked PACS machine and lightbox to accomodate a wide range of teaching methods. There are also blackout blinds in each of the seminar rooms to enable clear viewing of images for teaching and diagnostic purposes.

This is a modern, comfortable air-conditioned 104-seat lecture theatre with facilities for disabled delegates. It benefits from audio-visual linking facilities to enable distance teaching. Regularly linking to the other Radiology Academies and anywhere else with a compatible system, also allowing trainees to attend and observe clinical procedures carried out off site.

Simulation Suite

Aplio ultrasound equipment is available in the Academy’s ultrasound suite. Trainees are able to develop expertise in ultrasound techniques and anatomy. Ultrasound examinations are undertaken under the supervision of a Consultant.
